  • A smiling volunteer in a blue apron at the tea and coffee counter.
  • Four volunteers in red jumpers at Christmas, one wearing reindeer antlers.
  • Three people smiling together at an event, with gold and black balloons behind them.

Schools, Businesses and Groups

We offer meaningful opportunities to schools, community groups and businesses who are looking to discover more about sanctuary seekers and people in the local community.

Tours

Groups of up to 12 people can visit our building for an in person tour. Over the course of 60-90 minutes you will be guided through our building to discover who we work with, what we do and why we do it.

Volunteering days

Bring a small group to volunteer during our busy distribution service, making drinks and snacks, organising donations, joining in with social activities or guiding service users. Fulfil your CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) or ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) aims while making a measurable difference in your local community.

Presentations and Contributions

We have presented at the United Nations in Geneva, contributed to the National Deacons Conference in Leamington, participated in panel discussions in Birmingham on the issues of flag-raising and at a festival in Sussex on facing fears with faith. We have spoken on local and national radio and speak at parish AGM and special events. We can make valuable and insightful contributions to your event, such as:

Catholic Social Teaching Retreat Days and MAC training days

On or off site guided retreat days for schools, staff or groups allow the time for you to reflect upon the Church's teaching on migration issues whilst witnessing the daily realities for sanctuary seekers in Birmingham. Tailored to your timescales and requirements.

Assemblies and off site talks

Members of our team are happy to visit your school or setting to present on the issues that we witness and the work we do with sanctuary seekers in Birmingham.

We ask that all expenses are paid and that donations of money or practical items are made to us in respect of these activities. Contact abigail.m@stchadssanctuary.com to find out more.
